About Mela

Mela is a skin-tracking app — a computational dermatology engine — built by Melanix Health Inc. It reads skin as a system — barrier, cycle, sleep, environment, routine — across layers and over time, and stays alongside medical care rather than replacing it.

In brief

What is Mela?

Mela is a computational dermatology engine that reads a person's skin as a system over time rather than from a single snapshot. It tracks barrier function, cycle phase, sleep, environment, and routine, and uses causal methods to separate what a product changed from what would have changed anyway.

What is computational dermatology?

Computational dermatology applies the tools of causal inference and longitudinal measurement to skin — treating a routine as an experiment run on a single person, and asking what the evidence can and cannot support, instead of judging a product from one before-and-after.

Is Mela a medical device?

No. Mela is a general wellness tool for tracking skin over time. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and it is not a substitute for a board-certified dermatologist. Persistent, severe, or scarring concerns are a matter for a clinician.
